In its scientific orientation, the CCC focusses increasingly on translational research projects with the objective of linking basic science with the clinic and to develop new research and clinical study projects together.
In the context of precision medicine, which is increasingly finding its way into oncological therapy over the past years, the importance of translational research, i.e. the transmission of results from fundamental research to clinical research and back, is growing constantly.
Therefore, the Comprehensive Cancer Center of MedUni Vienna and AKH Vienna is gearing its scientific orientation increasingly toward the expansion and promotion of translational research projects and considers itself as a network which expedites and facilitates the bridge between the two groups of researchers.
A series of promising translational research projects have already been established and executed during recent years. This was also facilitated by the fact that a close link of basic research to the clinical divisions of the house is possible due to the Institute for Cancer Research. The CCC not only pursues this successful road, but continues to intensify it.
This will link you to a selection of ongoing projects.
With the endeavour to establish transcending research projects, the CCC does not want to limit its scope to the resident scientists or the establishments of other universities. Rather, the Centre also invites scientifically inclined physicians from other hospitals and established sectors to participate in the scientific work and become associated with the CCC.
